Our Staff

Chris Dubyna

Administrator

I have enjoyed being involved in Adventist education for the past 20 years. This is my fifth year as the Administrator of Alberta SDA Micro-Schools, and PHAS is one of the three schools I am fortunate to serve.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 - "Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus."

This verse is one of my favourites because it encourages me to praise God in all circumstances, even when it's difficult.

Joseph Blaney

Head Teacher

Grades 4-5 Teacher

Now in his third year at Peace Hills Adventist School, Mr. Blaney brings a love for music, creativity, and hands-on learning to the classroom. With a passion for creating thoughtful questions, he encourages students to dive deeper into strengthening their relationship with Jesus alongside their academic development. An enthusiastic music teacher, he enjoys playing the piano and singing with students, making learning fun and memorable. Outside of school, Mr. Blaney enjoys woodworking, beekeeping, camping, and reading, bringing his experiences and curiosity into the classroom to enrich his teaching and inspire his students every day.

One of my favorite Bible verses is Jeremiah 29:11. I hold onto this verse as a source of encouragement, especially during times of doubt or difficulty. Even in challenging seasons, I trust that God’s plans are ultimately for good, though they may take time to unfold and require patience and faith. I feel inspired knowing that through all my experiences, He is in control, and I will continue to trust Him to guide and direct my paths.

"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope."

Tanisha Otieno

Grades 6-9 Teacher

Tanisha Otieno has been teaching since 2017 after receiving her B.E.D in secondary Education from the University of Alberta and a B.A. in History from Canadian University College. She has enjoyed spending the last few years in the upper grades classroom at PHAS with the grades 6-9. In her spare time, Tanisha spends time with her family (husband and two sons) and her dogs. She enjoys spending time outside, skating, and  baking. Her favourite verse is John 15:13 because it really shows us the love that Jesus has for us and the care we should show to each other.
"Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends."

Taylor Ackerman

Grades K-3 Teacher

Hello! My name is Taylor Ackermam, and I’m delighted to be part of our learning journey together this year. This is my fifth year teaching in a multigrade setting and I’m passionate about nurturing young minds and helping each student discover their unique gifts and talents. Beyond teaching, I enjoy crochet, hiking, reading and playing board games, which I often find are great ways to stay creative and refreshed.
One verse that inspires my teaching is Proverbs 22:6: "Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it." This verse reminds me of the importance of guiding each child with love and wisdom, helping them build a strong foundation that will last a lifetime. Looking forward to a wonderful year with all of you!
